i'm on a boat

we haven't had much boating time this summer, but we got to steal away for an afternoon last week with friends.

the water - not pixel-y, that's pollen floating. makes for a nice swim!

the haze - smoke, thanks to forest fires in the states. thankfully we've had enough wind to send it back south.

Monday, July 16

woah

guess i checked out here for a bit... totally unintentional, although i don't have much to report unless you'd like repeated pictures of the lake. no? it has been h-o-t so we've gone almost ever day just to swim.

otherwise? the looong list of things to do for and after immigration is nearly over. i have my residency card, changed my driver's license, and have a social insurance number! the final task is sorting medical insurance... so close, yet still not done. i really hoped that it would all be done before holidays, but alas... no.

and holidays! we leave in less than a week! i am so excited to see our families. so excited.

Tuesday, July 3

late night stroll along the waterfront for me, testing out the new long board for matt.

and as a reward for exercising, the lake gave me a slightly wet and crumpled twenty dollar bill. holla!

Monday, July 2

canada day, cont.

matt wanted to play around with his camera and try some long exposure night shots.

the view of the waterfront and marina all lit up at night is one of my favourites.

and the fireworks? amazing! for being a small town, we put on a really good show. next year the party is at our house!

Sunday, July 1

oh canada!

i didn't realize until this morning that this is my first official Canada Day. so yay! canadian resident am i.

blankets, good books, suncreen. perfect afternoon.

the water is fah-reezing, but matt still went swimming. brave!

from peach beach to k-town. one of my favorite spots along the shore.

we debated the parade, decided to stay, then got a text to meet at the boat. so we ran (literally) and met at the marina.

even after a chilling swim, matt was game for wake surfing. first ride of the season!

now we're waiting for the fireworks to start!
completely unplanned, but completely perfect holiday.
