i spy...

kokanee salmon...

and a black bear.

We took Ames and Nath to see the annual swim-upstream-and-die marathon of the local freshwater kokanee salmon. At the entrance to the park we were greeted by a "Bear in the Park" sign which was confirmed by other park guests that, indeed, a black bear was hanging out near the third bridge.

So what did we do? Marched right up to the bridge and took pictures.

i'm back!

Not that I went anywhere particularly exciting. I just needed a respite from blogging while we got through the craziness that is September.

Fitz and I were both prepping for the fall launch of student and children's ministries and then there were a few birthday parties and then we had family visiting for a few days. Oh and Fitz picked up another coaching gig so that occupies a few afternoons a week.

We're finally settling into our fall/winter routine which I love. I love it almost as much as summer.

Our garden was entered in the national competition! We should hear about the results by mid-October.

Superstore is marking down their summer clothes. There is very little in life that thrills me more than buying a new shirt for $3.00.

Winners just opened up on the west side. Once the new mall (and maybe the new medical center) opens I'll never need to cross the bridge!

Fitz acquired an xBox 360 plus games today. Apparently one of the perks in his job is "babysitting" such things for kids who are going to college.

I will be 25 in thirteen days. Eek.
